What is Yoga in Business?

As a yoga teacher and a business person, I recognise that excessive stresses are present with most people most of the time. The first task is to recognise that and the second task is reduce the stress experienced by people to acceptable levels to enable the mind to work better, the body to avoid building up knots of tension and disease and the emotions to remain calm. Yoga has many of the answers, but practising yoga in the workplace is not generally regarded as ‘normal’ and many people cannot find convenient or appropriate yoga classes even if they felt so inclined.

Yoga In Business provides a way for people at work to experience the beneficial effects of various practices derived from yoga under the expert guidance of a qualified yoga teacher with a background in the business environment. A range of services is available to match the many needs of an organisation - ranging from the Executive Team Focussing to the Project Team Re-energiser.  All these can take place on your own premises during office hours or at other times and places to suit your needs.

Where do we Provide This?

Yoga In Business originated in the Swindon/ Marlborough area of North Wiltshire, but is available in most areas of the UK. Courses away from the workplace may take place in spiritually uplifting places in the UK and Europe.

My Work Life & Corporate Background

I have worked in the communications field for over 30 years and have worked as a systems engineer, a project leader, a project manager for multi-million pound contracts, a business developer and a bid manager. I have recently been an  assessor for the UK Business Excellence National Award. In 2001 I took the opportunity to leave employment and become self-employed to pursue my business interests.

Why I Started Yoga In Business

Having been in stressful and taxing situations in my work and successfully addressed their negative effects on my body, emotions and life, I felt that I could help other companies who were interested in improving the well being of their staff. I feel that I have the knowledge, experience and skills to bridge the gap between the commercial world and the human individuals to enable them to perform well without succumbing to the many pitfalls that await those who unequipped to handle the physical, mental and life unbalancing pressures.

My Yoga Life

I have had a lifelong interest in yoga and have been actively pursuing the study and practice of yoga since the early nineties when I was succumbing to the pressures of work. I was so impressed by my personal transformation that I worked daily at my yoga and its practical application in the work place.  Wanting to deepen my knowledge and qualification I went through the British Wheel of Yoga Teaching Diploma course (3 years), which is widely recognised for its high standards and professional approach to yoga teaching in the western world.  My personal specialism is in structural fitness and integrity - using techniques to increase the range of flexibility of joints and minimise unnecessary tensions to allow the body to align and feel light and free.

Professional Insurance

As a teaching member of the British Wheel of Yoga I carry full professional indemnity insurance for my work throughout the world (restrictions apply to North America).

Associates to Yoga In Business

Of course, it would be impossible for me alone to help more than a tiny fraction of the companies and people that could benefit from the Yoga In Business approach, so I have a network of associates to help me to deliver nationwide.  All associates are fully qualified and insured yoga teachers with a background in the commercial work place. They are all well versed in the application of yoga-based techniques for people at all levels in business from the managing director downwards.
